Outside the Diwan-i-Khan

AGRA, India — Walk through the Diwan-i-Khan, past the airy, soaring spaces and columns bearing beautiful inlay work and you’ll find yourself overlooking the grand spaces within Agra Fort.

At first glance, it might be easy to miss the intricate carved marble railing, but a delicate latticework of stone comprises a screen with six-pointed stars on some panels and hexagonal shapes on others — all containing additional patterns within.

The centuries-old artisanry — while slightly faded and yellowed from the elements, as well as time — remains as spellbinding as ever, I’d say.
