Details Abound in the Diwan-i-Khas

AGRA, India — Look closely, and you’ll see at the Diwan-i-Khas, or Hall of Private Audience, columns decorated with finely cut stones and fitted with precision-fitted semiprecious stones in delicate floral motifs.

Created by hand in the 17th century, the ornamentation stands aside from the soaring heights of the Agra Fort hall, open on three sides, and regal elegance it bestows.

Look up, look around or look down, and the attention to detail becomes almost dizzying.
