Setting Out From New Delhi

NEW DELHI, India — The word that popped into my head upon arriving at the New Delhi Railway Station was “gridlock.”

Vehicles in every direction and travelers on foot converged at the entrance to the station, where traffic was heavy but organized. The open-air platforms filled slowly and constantly with train passengers, while at least one guy taking a break on a nearby tin roof.

But at least there were no cows walking through the train station.

Buses, Bajajs, cars and pedestrians converge on the New Delhi Railway Station.
